Time to get the old 2007 Carrera S up to date.
Parts ordered:
Short Shift (Porsche original)
H&R Springs
RSS engine mounts
DesignTek cold air intake and K&N Filter
Engine tuning from It´s Fun in Stockholm
OZ Ultraleggera 19″ 8,5″ front and 12″ back with 15mm spacers
Steel wounded brake hoses
I started with the tuning from It´s fun.
The remapping made a noticeable difference in the response of the throttle, specially in the midrange. But after installing the cold air intake and K&N filter it really started to make a difference.
All flat spots in the range between 4-7000 rev range disappeared and the engine pulls much stronger to the rev limit. Great mod!
All that extra power put focus on the sloppy drive train.
After installing the RSS engine mounts which was a simple and straight forward operation the car felt much tighter and the sloppiness in the drive train was replaced by a sharpness that i never could imagined. The gears click in more easy and the engine and gearbox stopped moving around when you get off the gas.
After driving for a while with these mods it was time to do something about the huge gap between the tires and fenders. So i booked with Anders Levin at Levin Racing for a lowering kit from H&R.
The day before installed my first DSC-module from TPC what a difference.
During the 150Km trip to Levin Racing the car felt totally new in the chassis and much more compliant to the road surface.
When i returned to pick up the car after the new springs had been installed i feared that the ride would be much harder but it wasn’t. The ride was very good and not harsh at all.
Levin Racing had also done a full service (after 8 years) with new plugs. I also opted to install a new clutch at the same time, since the old one had started to judder especially in reverse. Levin also installed the OEM short shift kit from Porsche.
Now the car was as i wanted it. Tight, fast and great fun to drive.
All these mods are inexpensive and really transforms the car totally. And it looks great!
